New Delhi: BJP President Rajnath Singh on Thursday asserted that BJP-Shiv Sena ties were time tested and continue to be intact.
"We will not allow any differences to crop up between the two parties which have a very old alliance," he said.
He said he had discussed the matter with Maharashtra BJP President Nitin Gadkari and BJP leader in the state assembly Gopinath Munde.
"Besides I am also in touch with Shiv Sena and I am confident that if there is any misunderstanding that will be resolved amicably,” he added.
Asked if he had deputed senior BJP leader Bal Apte for the purpose, the BJP President said that nobody from the Centre party had been sent to Mumbai.
He however added that Apte was a National Vice President of the party and had gone to his house, which is in Mumbai.
''If he may take some initiative on his own to help the parties to resolve the differences, if any, that is up to him,'' he said.
Party sources said that the differences between the BJP and Shiv Sena were on Chemur assembly seat in Vidarbha region for which by-election were due to be held in November-December.
The seat had fallen vacant after the sitting Shiv Sena MLA resigned his seat after joining the Congress.
BJP is understood to have claimed that the seat be alloted to it as it had strong support in the region for but Shiv Sena was not ready.
BJP has conveyed its full support to the Shiv Sena for the Daryapur in Amravati district byelection which had fallen vacant following resignation of another Shiv Sena legislator after he joined the Congress.
The Election Commission is yet to notify elections for both the seats.
The BJP, meanwhile has convened a meeting of its Maharashtra State Office-bearers on October 8 to discuss the Shiv Sena issue.
The meeting will also discuss its strategy in regard to local bodies elections, including that of Corporation.
