Ahmedabad: A powerful bomb blast at a platform in the Ahmedabad Railway Station has injured 13 people.
The blast ripped open the roof of platform number two at around 0145 hours on Sunday morning.
"I heard a loud blast. It was not a cylinder blast because there was no fire. It was an explosion and there was a lot of smoke," tea stall owner in the railway station, Babu Devda said.
The injured have been shifted to VS Hospital in Ahmedabad and the condition of one of them is said to be serious.
Commandant of Railway Protection Force, R K Singh, said, "Everybody is in a state of shock. There was a goods train in platform number three and so luckily the damage has been less."
Director General of Police AK Bhargava said, that no organisation has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
The police say that high-end explosives like RDX or gelatin sticks were probably used in the blast. Bhargava however, clarified that it was not a "crude device".
The city is on a high alert and the police is maintaining a tight vigil in the major cities of Gujarat.
