BANGALORE: A ten-yearold boy, who went to the top of an under-construction building to fly kite, accidentally fell into the lift shaft from the fifth floor and died instandly following fatal injuries.The incident took place near Ashoka Pillar in Jayanagar II Block on Saturday evening.The deceased has been identified as Kashinath, a fourth standard student.He was the son of Chennamma, a native of Malagatti in Gulbarga.According to the police, an apartment was under construction and Chennamma had come to the city just a month ago and had joined there as a construction labourer. She was staying in a shed in the building’s premises.As she and others were working in the evening, Kashinath went to the top of the building to fly kite.The shaft of the lift was open and the boy was flying the kite did not notice it.As he walked backwards while flying the kite, he fell into the shaft and collapsed on the ground and died instantly due to fatal injuries, the police said.Eranna, a relative of the deceased who also works on the site, said that Kashinath had come home early from the school as he had only half-day classes.“Usually, he comes in the evening. But today as he came early and we were engaged in work, we could not give attention to him,” he lamented.Chennamma has four children - three daughters and Kashinath was the youngest one.In the meantime, Siddapura police have registered a case of negligence against the construction supervisor and further investigations are on.
