KANNUR: It all came as a bolt from the blue. A buffalo that ran amok strayed into the premises of traffic police station here on Monday evening attacked two persons spreading panic among the people. Two people sustained minor injuries.The injured were admitted to the District Hospital, even as the efforts made by the Fire and Rescue Service personnel to rope in the buffalo and bring it under control proved futile till late on Monday night. As the bewildered animal sought refuge amid the vehicles kept on the premises of the traffic police station, a gathering of people turned up at the station preventing the animal from coming out. The gathering of curious onlookers only resulted in confounding the situation. Nobody was sure where the buffalo bolted from, but it was suspected to have escaped from a butcher when it was being taken to a slaughter house at Manna near the town. The butcher couldn’t be spotted.Unfortunately, neither the Fire and Rescue Service Personnel nor the district authorities were prepared to meet the threat from an unruly buffalo. They are hoping against hope that the buffalo could be brought under control using tranquillisers by Tuesday morning.
