Camp to equip differently abled Afghans with 'Jaipur Foot'
The Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), makers of artificial limb 'Jaipur Foot', will hold a month-long camp in Afghanistan's capital Kabul in May this year to help handicapped Afghans.

The Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), makers of artificial limb 'Jaipur Foot', will hold a month-long camp in Afghanistan's capital Kabul in May this year to help handicapped Afghans.

There is a target to equip 1,000 handicapped persons during the camp, which is being organised with the association of the Afghanistan government, a release said in Jaipur on Saturday.

A delegation from Afghanistan, headed by the director general of its Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Disabled Sayed Hameed Ullah Sadat, visited the BMVSS centre in Jaipur on Friday and inspected the making of Jaipur Foot.

Founder and chief patron of BMVSS D R Mehta explained the technical aspects of the artificial limb to the delegation members.

During the discussion it was decided that the Afghan government will extend all help for holding the camp for which 25 technical persons would go to Kabul.

The BMVSS held similar camps in Kabul in 1996, 1997, 2003 and 2004 with the support and assistance of the Indian government and benefited several hundred handicapped persons of Afghanistan.
