Jodhpur: A Jodhpur court on Wednesday extended CBI custody of Amarchand, husband of missing ANM Bhanwari Devi till December 20. Amarchand's five-day CBI custody expired on Wednesday after which he was produced in the agency's court.
The agency sought extension of Amarchand's custody for a week citing his non-cooperation during the investigation.
He was arrested by the CBI on December 8 and was produced before the court next day, where the court had sent him for initial CBI custody till December 14.
"He is giving constantly changing statements and when we go for the verification of his statements, they are found to be false," CBI counsel SS Yadav told the court.
Besides this, the CBI also informed the court that they would need to take Amarchand out to certain places for verification of certain facts and statements.
Manish Vyas, the counsel of Amarchand, objected to the agency's plea saying Amarchand was interrogated by the CBI 18 times before the arrest, and now he has been there with them for last 5 days.
He also alleged that he is being persecuted under the custody, upon which the court said that the CBI is conducting medical examination of Amarchand every 48 hours.
Hearing both sides, the magistrate Jagdish Jyani admitted the request of the CBI and granted an extension of CBI custody of Amarchand till December 20.
According to the sources, CBI has come to the conclusion that Amarchand was giving contradictory statements since the beginning, and was the part of the conspiracy.
Now the CBI is seeking to confront him with Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, who is evading the CBI interrogation and is not responding to its summons, according to the sources.
Bhanwari, 36, posted as an auxiliary nurse at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, is missing since September 1.
