New Delhi: A day after Home Secretary Anil Goswami was sacked, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now looking at the role of its own officers in the Saradha Scam. Sources say two joint directors are under the scanner.

The CBI is checking all the call records to see who the officers were who had been called during Congress leader Matanh Singh's arrest, and why.

Anil Goswami was given marching orders after he admitted he spoke to CBI officials. CBI alleged Goswami tried to shield Matang Sinh when he was arrested last week. Sources say call detail records showed conversation between Goswami and CBI officials.

"Goswami was a good administrator. But this incident was condemnable. The government is just trying to perform its duty," said Kiren Rijuju, Minister of State for Home.

Congress leader Manish Tewari also commenting on the episode said that the incident was a sad commentary on BJP's governance.
