BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has decided not to celebrate his 65th birthday on October 16. Naveen, said the CM Office, wants to stay away from any form of celebration in view of the sufferings of thousands in the recent flood in the State. Earlier, the residence of the Chief Minister was thrown open to his supporters, public, as well as school students who turned up to wish him. This year, the Chief Minister has requested his supporters and admirers not to visit him at his residence, Naveen Nivas, on the B-day. Naveen had skipped the Dussehra celebrations this year too. In fact, the CM had kept his officers busy during the Puja holidays, convening review meetings regularly to take stock of the post-flood restoration work. However, his party members are not exactly following his philosophy. Some of the Biju Janata Dal legislators are busy hosting local festivals despite being in the heart of the flood-affected areas. Banki, for example, is playing host to Banki Mahotsav with the BJD MLAs making a beeline, although it is one of the worst-hit blocks.
