CM asks Speaker to examine video clips

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has asked Speaker G Karthikeyan to examine the video clippings of the controversial voting on the Kerala Appropriation Bill in the Assembly on July 21.In a letter sent to the Speaker, the Chief Minister asked him to take a decision in consultation with the Opposition Leader in this regard.The Chief Minister pointed out that Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan and other LDF leaders were creating a smokescreen by repeatedly alleging that UDF members cast bogus votes during the voting on the Kerala Appropriation Bill. He said that the people should know the truth on the issue.The government is viewing the allegation seriously, he said. The allegation that an MLA had cast a bogus vote in the sanctum sanctorum of democracy, in front of mediapersons and the general public, cannot be treated lightly, he said.The Chief Minister also said that his written demand to the Opposition to reveal the name of the MLA who had cast the bogus vote did not yield any reply.
