CM grants relief to kin of victims drowned

CHENNAI: Expressing deep grief over the washing away of seven persons in the water released from the Bhavani Kattalai hydro electric project on January 8, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday granted a solatium of Rs. 1 lakh each to the families of the victims. Nine persons from Sastri Nagar in Erode went to the Cauvery river for an outing and of them, seven drowned in the water.  The Chief Minister said she had directed the district administration to trace the bodies of the victims and hand them over to their families at the earliest.  She also granted a solatium of Rs. 1 lakh each to the families of three boys hailing from Mayilambadi village in Erode district, who were drowned in Kannadipalayam lake on January 8.
