Mumbai: The body of Rajnikant Dalal which was lying in a Saudi morgue for about 45 days will arrive in Mumbai on Friday. The news has been conveyed by the Indian embassy in Riyadh to Dalal's grieving family in Mumbai.
"We have received email that body will arrive on Friday morning via Saudi airlines. We haven't heard from Indian embassy. After the news was spread by media, then only the authorities started working seriously," his daughter said.
Tired of fighting the battle to get the body back, wife of the deceased Rekha Dalal had said, "Now we are so frustrated that we just want to commit suicide. We just want to die."
Despite Dalal's employment contract stating that his sponsor will bear expenses during the event of his death, the family had to arrange for Rs 2.2 lakh and send it to the sponsor. After several calls, last week, the Indian Embassy informed the family that they have sent the body.
"They said body has been sent by Gulf and asked us to go to airport. We arranged for all the materials required for final rites and called our relatives. When we went there, they told us no booking for dead body was made," Rekha had claimed.
The family had lost all the hope as the Indian Embassy had asked them to do the paperwork again.
Dalal, an auto electrician, died on April 26 in Saudi after a heart attack. CNN-IBN had reported on the plight of his family who had been running from pillar to post for over 40 days to get his body back to India.
