New Delhi: Temperatures have dropped across north India as the cold wave continues to intensify in the region resulting, in closure of schools in Jaipur. Delhi continues to shiver with minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius.

Similar conditions in Amritsar were similar to Delhi, Ambala was warmer at 10.0 degrees Celsius and Chandigarh at 9.0 degrees Celsius.

Jaipur District Collector Naveen Mahajan has ordered closure of all schools in the district from January 11 to January 13, even as the minimum temperature in the pink city was 8 degrees Celsius.

Dehradun, which experienced a hail storm two days ago, is experiencing a low of 7 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded on Tuesday in Srinagar city was minus one deg C while the minimum temperature last night stood at minus 2.8 degrees, the MeT office said.

The mercury has dipped below the freezing point across the Valley for the past 48 hours.

Fresh snowfall was reported on Tuesday from tourist hotspots of Uttarakhand, including Hemkunt Saheb, Kedarnath, Mussorie, Nainital and the Nanda Devi National Park, the MeT office said.
