BANGALORE: Around 50 students were sent back on day one of COMED-K medical/dental UGET counselling, held on Friday, as the students did not meet the requisite criteria for counselling.Srikanth, Chief Executive, COMED-K said, “The students were sent home as their marks card was not satisfactory, DDs were not genuine, and the challans were signed by other officials of the bank, apart from the manager.”The New Indian Express witnessed first-hand encounters wherein aspiring medicine students were sent back due to several reasons. One such case was of Rohit Tewari from Allahabad; his marks cards did not have the required watermark seal. COMED-K officials argued that his pre-university certificate was issued by the principal instead of the exam board. Certain students got photocopies of their marks cards, instead of the original copies, or their challans were issued by a different bank, not from the one that they had drawn their DD from. Another student from Kerala was told that though her rank was good, the challan did not have the required seal and signature of the particular bank from which the DD was drawn. The students who were sent back have been asked to get all their required documents in order to be present for the second round of medical/dental counselling, that will be held on August 16.Day one of the medical/dental UGET counselling was attended by 477 students, wherein 1500 were allotted a rank in COMED-K.The total number of medical seats available on day one were 636 and there were 166 seats remaining. There are 166 seats available for medical counselling on Saturday, and for dental the number of available seats are 726. Counselling on Saturday will be held for ranks 1501 up to 11291.
