BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has nominated PC Patra, the Deputy Director of Mines, as the convenor of the committee constituted to investigate financial transaction of the lessees and raising contractors to ascertain violation of Section-37 of Mineral Concession Rules, 1960.The Government has directed the committee to visit five more mines of Joda mining circle this week and submit its report to the Steel and Mines Department by August 10. The committee was asked by the Department on July 8 to visit at least three mines in the same circle and submit report by July 28.In his report submitted to the director of mines after visiting some mines in the first phase, the deputy director is reported to have said that there were violations of the rule. He said that since the mines had been illegally given by the lessee to the raisers and contractors, an audit by chartered accountant can bring out many other irregularities.
