Mumbai: The confusion over the location of the Mumbai gangrape accused, Siraj ur Rahman, has ended as the IG Prisons confirmed that he is in Thane jail. The IG Prisons said that there was some confusion when he had to be taken from the Thane jail to the Mumbai court for the hearing in the case.

Earlier there were reports that Rahman had gone untraceable with the authorities unaware of where he is. The Thane jail authorities had told court that they don't have the custody of Rahman.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch had also said that it does not have any record as to where exactly Rahman is. The Mumbai court had ordered the Thane jail authorities to explain what went wrong.

Rahman has been chargesheeted for the gangrape of a photojournalist at the Shakti Mills in Mumbai.

"There is confusion as to where rape accused Siraj ur Rahman is. The court has issued a notice to the Thane jail superintendent to come and explain the lapse," said public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

This comes just days after Indian Mujahideen terrorist Afzal Usmani escaped from a Mumbai court.
