BARGARH: Attabira Congress MLA Nihar Mahanand launched his indefinite fast-unto-death agitation in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday, demanding immediate repair of 88-km stretch of the NH-6 from Sambalpur to Luharachati.The stretch, being widened to six lanes, is pocked with potholes. While accidents are being reported on a daily basis, it takes nearly two hours to cover a distance of 50 km from Sambalpur to Bargarh by car along this dilapidated stretch.Maintaining that he would not budge from his stand, Mahanand said the main road should be re-laid and made motorable. This can go alongside the widening work, he added. Bargarh and Bijepur MLAs Sadhu Charan Nepak and Subal Sahu and former Congress minister Prakash Chandra Debta were present.
