Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Thursday said that the attack by CPM activists against party offices of Congress, IUML and Janata Dal was carried out in an organised manner with 200-odd activists with sharp weapons forming a group and unleashing the attack.
Giving details of the overall damage caused by violence in the state on the hartal day, he said that it was highly deplorable that political parties resorted to such violent protests.
He said that in Kannur, the DCC office was ransacked and the conference hall was damaged completely in the attack.
“Azhikode block Congress office also came under attack. In Pinarayi panchayat, four Congress offices were attacked, while in Koothuparamba 16 Congress offices and in Payyannoor five Congress offices were ransacked by the CPM activists,’’ he said.
In Kannur, district police chief’s official vehicle was pelted with stones, he said.
