KOCHI: The CPM district secretariat which met here has left a decision on the charges levelled against a high-profile leader in the district to the state committee. The meeting attended by party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and secretariat member M V Govindan couldn’t take a final decision on the issue. There are reports that it is the factional feud in the party that has brought the issue to the light. The complaint against the leader, who is a staunch supporter of Pinarayi, was lodged by the secretariat members belonging to VS faction. In the wake of the organisational polls to be started soon, both the official faction and the VS faction have been playing all the cards. In a similar case, P Sasi, the then Kannur district secretary of the party, had cost his chair. Though the party official faction tried to minimise the damage by trying to just suspend Sasi, the state committee had shown him the door.Till the last organisational polls, the leader against whom charges are levelled had been a VS loyalist. In 2008, he left the VS camp and joined the official faction. With this, the official faction could wrest the Ernakulam district from the VS faction. The secretariat members belonging to the VS faction have asked strong action against the leader.Whatever may be decision, it would affect the official faction adversely.Speaking to media, Pinarayi Vijayan said that no issue of urgent nature had been there for the discussion at the meeting.
