Mumbai: Ace Indian choreographer Shiamak Davar, who recently received an honorary doctorate from London's Middlesex University, says he felt honoured and blessed to have contributed to dance education.
Shiamak, who is known for contemporary dance style, received the honorary degree at a ceremony in London last week, in recognition of his contribution to entertainment in India and throughout the world.
"I am truly honoured to receive the award of Doctor of the University from Middlesex University. My parents, both pioneers in the field of education, imbibed the importance of education in me. I am blessed to be able to contribute (to) their legacy as a dance educationist," Shaimak said in a statement.
"I started my journey in the field of performing arts in UK, and receiving this honour completes this circle. With my mission to educate, entertain and empower people, this acknowledgment reinforces my belief," he said.
The dance guru has directed and choreographed for several Bollywood personalities including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek, Aishwarya Rai and Oscar winning composer A R Rahman.
