COIMBATORE: The Delhi Public School Society (DBSS), in collaboration with Takshila Educational Society (TES), will set up its branch in Coimbatore, which would commence its operations from June 2012. Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore on Friday, Director of Takshila Educational Society Seema Malik, said that the school at Coimbatore would be the 132nd branch of DPSS. Initially the school would have classes from nursery to fifth standard and later it would have up to Class 12. “DPS Coimbatore will be affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Society (CBSE) and will follow the National Curriculum Framework formulated by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)”, Seema Malik said. Pro Vice-Chairman of Delhi Public School Sanjiv Kumar said that by starting this school in Coimbatore the DPSS would expand its presence in Tamil Nadu and informed that DPSS also has plans to start Delhi Public School in Chennai by 2015. He pointed out that they have chosen Coimbatore because of its potential as an industrial town. “Looking in the context of current educational scenario in Tamil Nadu, CBSE syllabus seems to be the most preferred by parents and students”, he said. He also informed that DPS already has its presence in many foreign countries including Singapore, Indonesia and countries in middle east and Africa. Seema Malik said parents can expect to incur an expense of Rs. 55000 and there could be an annual revision of 8-10 pc due to rise in cost of living.
