A 30-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by an unidentified man in a road rage incident after their two-wheelers brushed against each other near the Gokal Puri Flyover in Delhi.
The incident took place on Wednesday around 3:15 p.m. when the woman, identified as Simranjeet Kaur, was travelling with her husband, Heera Singh, and their two sons, aged 12 and 4 years.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey stated that Singh had a verbal altercation with the man on another two-wheeler after their vehicles nearly collided near the flyover.
“At about 3:15 PM, a person Heera Singh (40) was going towards Maujpur along with his wife Simranjeet Kaur (30) on his Bullet motorcycle. He had a verbal spat with one person on a two-wheeler near Gokal Puri Flyover after their vehicles almost brushed against each other,” Tirkey stated.
Following the argument, an assailant fired a single shot from the flyover, approximately 30-35 feet below, striking Kaur in the upper chest near her neck, the police stated.
Despite immediate medical attention, Kaur was declared dead upon arrival at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital.
A murder case has been filed, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
“Efforts are being made to identify and arrest the assailant. Further investigation is in progress,” the police noted.
