Doctors' strike enters ninth day
As the hunger strike at AIIMS enters its ninth day, the Rapid Action Force has been deployed to keep things in check.

New Delhi: Though the number of doctors protesting the government's proposal on strike has fallen drastically over the past couple of days, those still protesting remain as defiant as ever.

As the hunger strike by resident doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences enters its ninth day on Monday, the Rapid Action Force has been deployed at the hospital to keep the protests under check.

And it's not just the anti-reservation movement that is gathering momentum.

A pro-reservation meeting is being held in delhi's Talkatora stadium later today.

On Sunday, Hyderabad too jumped into the fray, by holding its first ever rally on the quota issue.

In fact, two groups of protestors, both for and against reservations, actually came face to face at one point though they limited themselves to slogan shouting and the situation remained calm.

Other states too are continuing the protest against reservations.

Medical students across Orissa will meet in Bhubaneshwar on Monday for a protest rally.

Six medical colleges of Karnataka have also joined in the strike to protest against the increase in quota for backward classes.

Congress spokesperson Rajeev Shukla says, "I don't konow why are the doctors are still on strike as it has been clearified that it will not have an impact on the general category students."

What's your reaction?
