BANGALORE: MLC and chairman of PES Group of Institutions Dr M R Doreswamy on Thursday surrendered the civic amenity (CA) site, allotted to the institution, to Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
Dr Doreswamy told media persons that he would seek the allotment of the land to the institution when the CA site was "notified and in accordance to the law". The CA site measuring 115x120 square feet at Banashankari I Stage was allotted to the institution by the BDA earlier this year. Last year, Dr Doreswamy had requested the chief minister for a site. He had also sent an application to the Bangalore Development Authority in this connection.

However, JD (S) spokesperson YSV Dutta had alleged that a number of rules were violated by the BDA like the denotification of the site before allotting it to PES Group of Institutions.

He had also alleged that allotment of the site to Sonar Yuvaka Sangha for construction of a Kalyana Mandapa and a hostel was cancelled before the end of the lease period. A public interest litigation too was filed in the High Court challenging the allotment of the site.

"If BDA had not followed rules, then leassee can't be blamed for it," he said. When questioned on the money already spent Rs 54,91,650 by the institution on the site, he said that they have not really thought about seeking a refund or filing defamation charges but would look into it.
