Noida: Dr Rajesh Talwar, accused of murdering his teenager daughter Arushi, has been remanded to three days of police remand.

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar, AK Singh gave the ruling after the police said they wanted to recover the weapon of crime and question Dr Talwar further.

Dr Talwar's bail application, which was to come up for hearing on Tuesday, could not be taken up because of the ongoing lawyers' strike in support of the Gurjar agitation.

Two bail applications, one on health grounds and another claiming loopholes in investigations, and a police plea seeking his remand came up before the court.

"Talwar is sent to police custody from 1900 hrs IST today to 1800 hrs IST on May 30," Singh said in his order.

Talwar told the court that he was not behind the murders of his daughter Arushi and family help Hemraj and he feared that police would frame him.

He also said in the court that he never confessed to the crime as claimed by the police.

High drama was witnessed during the hearing as some lawyers agitating on the Gujjar issue entered the courtroom and shouted slogans, which disrupted the proceedings for sometime.

Talwar, who was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Friday following his arrest, was brought to the court this morning for the hearing amidst tight security.

The proceedings began at around 1330 hrs IST and lasted barely 15 minutes, during which the Public Prosecutor PN Shrivastava sought seven days' police custody of the accused.

But some lawyers who have been agitating for reservation benefits for Gujjars entered the court room and started shouting slogans and disrupted the proceedings.
