BANGALORE: A drunken driver’s negligence claimed the life of a woman and left three others injured. The incident took place at Rajeev Gandhi Nagar 8th Main Road near Sunkadakatte in Kamakshipalya traffic police station limits on Sunday evening.The deceased has been identified as Gangamma (45). Jyothi, Shivamma and Ravikumar are the injured.The public thrashed the driver Rajashekhar after the accident and he was arrested.According to the police, Rajashekhar was drunk and he was driving a tempo traveller, which belonged to SRS Travels. Gangamma and others were standing and chatting in front of their houses.Rajashekhar, who was in an inebriated state, lost control over the vehicle and hit the four. The vehicle was stopped only after it rammed to the compound of a house, damaging it.“Gangamma succumbed to injuries on the spot, while three others were left gravely injured. Irked by the accident, the public caught the driver and roughed him up for killing and injuring the women,” the police added.Gangamma’s body was shifted to Victoria Hospital mortuary while the injured were admitted to hospitals.The Kamakshipalya traffic police seized the tempo traveller and arrested Rajashekhar.Further investigations are on.
