New Delhi: Long tailbacks were witnessed in several parts of the city following dust storm and rains on Monday evening.
The areas where severe traffic snarls were reported include ITO junction in central Delhi, Saket in the south and Raja Garden, Uttam Nagar and Peeragarhi areas in western part of the national capital, a traffic official said.
Commuters in central Delhi had a harrowing time passing the ITO junction where the traffic crawled at snail's pace.
The congestion in Saket area, particularly, was caused by major waterlogging at a stretch on Mehrauli-Badarpur road. Traffic snarls were also reported in several places as people took shelter under flyovers, metro stations and foot overbridges during the dust storm followed by the showers in the peak evening hours.
Nehru Place and Ashram Chowk in southeast Delhi also witnessed traffic jams due to breakdown of buses around the same time, the official added.
