New Delhi: Actress Kalki Koechlin says she enjoying playing a student activist in Dibakar Banerjee's political thriller 'Shanghai'. Kalki, 28, who started her career with 'Dev D', is reuniting with Abhay Deol in the political thriller.
"I play a character called Shalini. She is a political activist student who is very innocent and [passionate, realistic about the world. She fights for the corruption in Indian politics today," Kalki told PTI.
The film, which is an adaptation of Greek author Vassilis Vassilikos' famous novel 'Z', will see Kalki, Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles.
Kalki said she did not follow any real life personality to prepare for her character and attended casting director Atul Mongia's workshop.
"I couldn't get time to prepare myself for the character. Dibakar came to me about two weeks ago before the shoot for the role. I had my wedding on January 15 and simultaneously I had to read the script while preparing for the marriage. I did a workshop for one week with Emraan Hashmi and Mongia," Kalki said during DLF Promenade's third anniversary celebration here.
Asked about her interest in politics, she said, "It's impossible to keep yourself away from the politics in India. There are so many things happening around right from activist Anna Hazare's campaigns to the political outbursts in
Twitter."

recognition.
"I am happy that Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay got their due recognition in the industry because it was their film. The story revolved around overcoming their fears in their lives. So, it's good that all the credits are given to Zoya and the three guys," she said.
