Former SFI Central Committee member and Edachery Local Committee member K S Bimal, Ulliyeri Local Committee member and SFI former district secretary Lal Kishore, Karuvattoor Local Committee member A Mohammed Salim, Karuvissery Local Committee member Sadhique Chelattu and Vengeri Branch Committee member K P Chandran, who have been in the forefront of the fund collection, are the ones who faced the ire of the CPM district leadership.“CPM expelled us citing the reason that we are not attending the party committees and party programmes and attending some programmes which are against the stand of the party,” said K S Bimal. “No political decision has been taken yet, but I will continue my activities,” he added. Chandrasekharan launched a movement against the decadence of the party and it is very relevant at this time. But joining a political party is not a matter before me now, said Bimal.The expelled leaders flouted party’s warning and handed over a sum of `19 lakh to the slain leader’s family to pay the debt incurred by Chandrasekharan for the construction of his house at Onchiyam, at a function attended by many cultural leaders. Subsequently, this provoked the CPM district leadership and expelled the rebels from the primary membership of the party.Sources said that these leaders, who were closely associated with TP during his SFI and DYFI time, have been disassociating with the party programmes as they had strong protest over the killing of Chandrasekharan. There is possibility of more people joining them as they command support of the youth in the district.However, CPM Nadapuram Area Secretary P K Balan said that the area committee removed Bimal for his continuous absence from the party committee meetings.
