Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano won the tournament by beating Lee Westwood.

Sutton Coldfield (England): Jeev Milkha Singh finished tied fifth in the British Masters at Sutton Coldfield on Sunday.

Jeev finished with a tournament total of 6 under to finish tied with Charl Schwartzel at the fifth spot.

Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano won the tournament by beating Lee Westwood in a thrilling playoff. The pair played the 18th three times before they could be split for a winning score.

Westwood was the reigning British Masters champion.

The 27-year-old Fernandez-Castano putted from just off the green on the 18th hole at the Belfry to within an inch, and then watched as defending champion Westwood chipped poorly and missed a 15-foot par putt.

The victory earned Fernandez-Castano $300,000 and celebrated by taking a dip in the lake that fronts the final green and came to his media center interview clad only in two towels.

"It was cold but not that cold, but it smelled terrible - like I do right now," he said.

It was his fourth European Tour victory and third in a playoff.
