New Delhi: The elections to the 403-member Assembly in Uttar Pradesh are known for its firece competition and reports of candidates luring voters is common.
An FIR has been launched against Samajwadi Party candidate from Nanpara constituency, Yasar Shah, for allegedly luring voters by offering them money.
News agency PTI quoted District Magistrate Shankarlal Pandey as saying that Yasar, the son of the Uttar Pradesh Labour Minister Waqar Ahmad Shah, had allegedly given Rs 5,000 to the family of a youth who was killed recently.
An independent candidate from Uttar Pradesh had registered a complaint against Shah. After the allegation was found true prima facie, the assistant election officer registered an FIR against the candidate under various sections of IPC.
