First ever CABG surgery successful

The team of cardiothoracic surgeons at Apollo DRDO Hospital, led by Dr.

 Rajeev Trehan, Consultant Cardio-thoracic Surgeon performed a highly complex Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery, along with a Mitral Valve Replacement and Left Ventricle Reconstruction, a firstof- its-kind in the city at the Apollo DRDO Hospital, Kanchanbagh.

 A 65-year-old patient Sudhakar Reddy presented himself with severe breathlessness and sweating.

 He could neither lie down on bed nor even walk, due to symptoms of heart failure.

 On evaluation through a PET CT at Apollo DRDO Hospital, Reddy was found to have Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) with severe leakage of mitral valve of heart and a huge LV Aneurysm - where in the heart had bloated like a bag.

 The surgery was performed on August 24, spread over 8 hours that involved reconstruction of the left ventricle, replacement of the mitral valve and a bypass surgery.

 The patient has recovered; he is in a position to do his normal routine and is ready for discharge.
