BHUBANESWAR: With the flood situation worsening in northern Orissa, the State Government on Friday requested the Jharkhand government to regulate water release from its barrages. Besides, it has sought additional helicopters from the Centre to reach out to about three lakh marooned people.  Official sources said the State Government asked Jharkhand to regulate release of water from Chandil Dam as it could aggravate the situation in Subarnarekha and Budhabalang rivers whose water levels are rising.  The State Government apprehended that additional water flow could worsen the flood situation in northern districts, particularly Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur. Floodwaters of Brahmani and Baitarani have already wrecked havoc in Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapara districts.  The fresh flood has affected Jajpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Balasore and Mayurbjanj districts.
