BANGALORE: Police concluded on Wednesday that software engineer S Sreerag, who was found dead in a car on Tuesday, had committed suicide due to failure in love. This conclusion follows opinions from forensics experts, who examined the scene of the crime and the doctor who conducted the post mortem.Experts have also clearly ruled out murder. An autopsy was conducted on Sreerag’s body at Bowring Hospital mortuary on Wednesday.“His viscera was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Importantly, of the 100 sleeping pills found in his stomach, half had dissolved. However, it is clear that he died of suffocation as he had gagged his mouth, besides covering his face with four plastic covers and sticking 20 rounds of duct tape on them. Hence, we will contemplate giving a report to the police stating the death was caused due to asphyxia,” sources in the Forensic Medicine Department said. Sources also said they would give the viscera for examination to the FSL on Thursday, while they would submit the post mortem report to the police in 2-3 days. Meanwhile, sources in the FSL said it was the “most complicated” suicide case they had seen so far. “Initially, we suspected it was murder, but as we proceeded with the examination, it became clear that it was a suicide,” they added. DCP of East division Krishna Bhat said, “We can officially declare whether it’s a suicide or not only after the autopsy and forensic reports reach us.” However, police sources confirmed that they would formally change the case from murder to unnatural death after they get the full report.
