The Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), Hyderabad chapter threw a fundraiser on Sunday night which featured Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, an investor and trader, and the book release of ‘Forms of the formless’ compiled by Hyderabad-based photographer Amita Talwar. Jhunjhunwala, who is also listed as India’s 51st richest man by the Forbes magazine, released the book and delivered a speech on investment banking. “Find a good advisor,” he advised. “Most want to invest in the stock market on their own but most of them do not have the skills of the market. You need professional help.”The book ‘Forms of the formless’, priced at Rs 1000, is a compilation of photographs that Talwar had taken on her travels across the country. After MSSI approached her, Talwar went through her collection and came up with the theme of representing faiths. The back of the book reads, “Faith in all its forms find spirituality in a multitude of symbols that signify spirituality.” Her pictures are stills depicting faith from all over the place, right from Uttaranchal, Guwahati, Tiruvanmalai, Pondicherry, Leh, Assam, to even Bhutan. “The focus isn’t on religion but the personification of it,” she explains. The book has an extensive foreword by Dr Ashrafi S Bhagat, an art historian, critic and author, based in Chennai.Speaking at the fundraiser, Meena Gupta, president of the MSSI-Hyderabad Chapter, said their chapter, which started in 2005, has been working towards reducing the pain and suffering of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affected persons. A common neurological disorder diagnosed in young adults with no cure, MS is an unpredictable disease of the nervous system in which the communication between brain and other parts of the body get disrupted. The event also had a skit ‘Lila Bracelet’, based on the life of a MS patient. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the organisation.
