Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will brief the cabinet on his visit to India where he will meet his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh, a media report said on Monday.
Dawn reported that final touches were being given to the arrangements for Gilani's visit to watch the Pakistan-India cricket World Cup semi-final in Mohali on Wednesday.
Informed sources said that a special meeting of the cabinet had been convened on Monday.
Gilani will brief his cabinet colleagues about issues he will take up with Manmohan Singh.
Describing President Asif Ali Zardari's order to release Indian prisoner Gopal Dass after 27 years in jail, the media report said the remission was granted on Gialni's advice.
Gopal Dass was arrested in Pakistan in 1984 and jailed on spying charges. Since then he has been lodged in a jail in Lahore.
Shabbir Anwar, the prime minister's press secretary, told Dawn "as soon as we receive a final word from the Indian government about the itinerary of the visit, we will decide who else will accompany the prime minister."
Sources in the Prime Minister's Secretariat said preparations were in full swing for the visit.
