Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi and Chief Minister Harish Rawat were also present at the cremation ceremony.
Dehradun: A state funeral was accorded to Subedar Ajay Vardhan, who died on December 3 fighting infiltrators in the Naugam sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Vardhan was cremated with full military honours in Dehradun.
Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi and Chief Minister Harish Rawat were also present at the cremation ceremony.
Rawat said, "People of Uttarakhand have always been there for the nation."
"My brother died fighting for the nation. He did it for our country," Vardhan's brother said.
