New Delhi: The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday granted bail to three suspected workers of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and slammed the police for failing to produce documents proving their association with the banned organisation.
High Court Justice A K Saxena granted bail to Inam-ur-Rehman Qureshi, Shafiq Siddiqui and Khalil Ahmed on Wednesday after defence lawyer claimed that prosecution had failed to produce any evidence connecting them to SIMI since their arrest in Khandwa in April 2006.
Though prosecution lawyer claimed that the Khandwa police had seized objectionable literature from the three, he said the documents were not made available yet.
Taking a serious note of failure of police to produce the evidence, Justice Saxena said the Khandwa police seems to be sleeping over such a serious issue.
