THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Almost a month after swearing in as the Minister for Health in the Cabinet led by UDF leader Oommen Chandy, Adoor Prakash visited Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital (MCH) on Wednesday. The Minister, who arrived around 1.30 pm, visited various parts of the hospital, including the new Out Patient block, Super Speciality block of the hospital, Golden Jubilee Block of Sree Avittam Thirunal Hospital and old Trauma Intensive Care Unit. He also had a meeting with the heads of different departments in the hospital and discussed the various developmental activities that are going on at the institution. The staff of the hospital, led by Superintendent Nizarudeen, explained to the Minister about the activities that are going on there. He was also given an account of the various projects that were initiated by former Health Minister K P Sreemathi which were yet to be completed. The Minister, following the meeting with the heads of the departments, set tentative deadlines to complete various development works after prioritising them. The works of a corridor connecting the new Super Speciality block and the main block of the hospital, the construction of new residence blocks and the relocation of Casualty would start within a month and completed in three months’ time. The Minister also set a deadline of one year to complete the other proposed projects at the hospital.
