CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court vacation judge SC Parija on Tuesday adjourned the anticipatory bail application hearing filed by the then IIC of Pipili police station AK Champatiray till a date after vacation.Champatiray has filed the bail application apprehending arrest by the Crime Branch in the Pipili gangrape case. The Crime Branch had issued notice to him for appearing in person before the agency for investigation.The CB had earlier this month submitted Champatiray for wilful negligence in duty in connection with the alleged gangrape incident.The police officer has been charged under Section 4 of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.The investigating agency had also filed a status report before the Orissa High Court indicating criminal liability of the police officer for his negligence in attending to the matter.
