Heavy rains lash Gujarat, MET department issues flood warning
Nearly five thousand people living along the banks of the river have been evacuated as the Vishwamitri river is flowing 3 feet above the danger mark.

Vadodara: With heavy rains lashing many parts of Central and Northern Gujarat and Saurashtra in the last 24 hours, the Met department has issued a flood warning in the state.

Nearly five thousand people living along the banks of the Vishwamitri river have been evacuated. The river flowing through Vadodara at 34 feet while the danger level is 26 feet which shows that the water is a nearly 8 feet above danger level.

Meanwhile, the water coming from Ajwa lake has been stopped and for the moment the water has started to recede in Vadodara.

The MeT department has also predicted more rainfall in parts of the state on Wednesday. Three NDRF teams have been deployed.

The Narmada dam is overflowing and about 2 lakh cusecs of water is being released from Ukai dam into the Tapi river in Surat.
