Meerut: In a shocking incident in Meerut, a four-day-old baby was burnt when a fire broke out in the nursery of a private hospital.
The baby, who was in an incubator, has suffered 80 percent burns.
The incident took place at the Sushila Jaswant Rai Speciality Hospital in the Uttar Pradesh town.
After the fire was put out, the baby was shifted to the ICU and later rushed to the Apollo hospital in Delhi.
A short circuit in the nursery is said to have caused the fire. The child's condition is said to be serious.
The trustee of the hospital Ashok Kumar said that the baby has been sent to Apollo hospital in Delhi for further treatment. "The room where the baby was kept was a confined place and it caught fire. The baby is alive and has been sent to Delhi for further medication," informed Kumar.
