India will not fire the first bullet along the border: Rajnath Singh tells Pak Rangers
In response, Pakistan Rangers said that they are not part of the "leadership" and cannot give any commitment in this regard.

New Delhi: Aiming to build peace along the border, Home Minister Rajnath Singh in a meeting with Pakistan Rangers on Friday said that India will not fire the first bullet at borders, whatever reason may come.

"India wants friendly relations with all its neighbours. India will not fire the first bullet towards Pakistan along the border," Singh told the delegation of Pakistan Rangers, headed by its Director General Major General Umar Farooq Burki.

In his response, Burki told Singh that he was the "mere DG of a force and not the leadership" like the Home Minister and could not give any commitment in this regard. Burki, however, said that he would convey Singh's message to the Pakistani leadership.

Rajnath also said that India always wanted dialogue with Pakistan at different levels. "Pakistan is also a victim of terror. We want good relation with Pakistan. I am not saying it as a mere phrase but from the depth of my heart. United we could become power force in world," he said.

Seeking an assurance from the security forces of the neighbouring country, Rajnath said that Pakistan must ensure that no terrorist infiltrates into India from its territory.

The delegation of Pakistani Rangers met their counterparts in the Border Security Force on Thursday. While the talks ended in a 'cordial atmosphere', Pakistan is said to have stated that Indian security forces must cease propaganda activities and stop leaking information to the press.

Sources say that Pakistan also claimed that it has evidence that India has supported infiltration into Pakistan via Punjab and Rajasthan and the sea route.

The talks, between BSF were led by Director General DK Pathak and the delegation of Pakistani Rangers is led by Major General Burki. An accord will be signed between the two sides on Saturday, the last day of the director general-level talks.
