Taking to X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, “Greetings to the Indian Air Force personnel on #IndianAirForceDay. The valiant men and women have earned the respect and admiration of a grateful nation. We salute all the IAF personnel for their tremendous contribution, both in war and during humanitarian efforts. The nation takes pride in the many achievements of our Air Force and looks forward to its further growth as a modern strategic force.”

Respectful salute to the brave soldiers of Air Force who are always ready to protect Mother India,” he posted in Hindi on X.

Indian Air Force Day is celebrated every year on October 8 to honour the Indian Air Force (IAF) and its pilots who dedicate their lives to protecting India. The Indian Air Force was officially formed on October 8, 1932. Its first flight took off on April 1, 1933, with six RAF-trained officers and 19 airmen. The aircraft fleet included four Westland Wapiti IIA biplanes stationed at Drigh Road, forming the “A” Flight nucleus of No.1 (Army Co-operation) Squadron.
