Karachi India's oldest living Test cricketer, Khan Mohammad Cassumbhoy Ibrahim, died in Karachi on Monday at the age of 88.
The secretary of the Karachi City Cricket Association, Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari said on Monday that Ibrahim, who ran his own business in Karachi's posh locality of PECHS till few years back, died after a prolonged illness.
"He was out of touch with cricket for some years now. But in the 60s and 70s used to come to watch the matches," Bukhari said.
Ibrahim played four Tests for India against West Indies in 1948-49 at home and opened the innings with Vinoo Mankad.
But after an auspicious start of 85 and 44 he failed to score in his next six innings and retired in 1951-52.
Ibrahim played for Mumbai and scored heavily for them in the Ranji Trophy in 1948-49.
He scored 1171 runs in 1947-48 with four hundreds, a record that won him the Indian Cricketer of the Year award for the season.
