New Delhi: In his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India can progress only if the eastern parts of the country also prosper.
"For India to progress, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other eastern states have to do well," Modi said highlighting the ignorance faced by these regions for many years.
Modi said four Urea factories in this region have been revived. "Due to our policies on urea and gas supply, these companies have been revived and the youth are getting employment", he said.
"Whether it is infrastructure or railways, we have concentrated on eastern India. We are putting in gas pipelines", he added.
Emphasizing the villages that do not have power, he said his government was committed to provide electricity to all those villages.
