Bhopal: Among the 142 people who died in the horrific Indore-Patna Express tragedy, eight belong to Madhya Pradesh.
However, authorities faced a tough time in ascertaining the identities of the dead due to confusing PNR numbers.
According to the Railways, Jitesh Maurya, who was a resident of Awadhpuri Colony of Bhopal, is one among those who died in the accident.
As per a spokesperson of Railways, those dead include one person each from Bhopal and Ujjain, four from Indore and two from Gwalior.
Noteworthy, a total of 171 passengers boarded the train from Bhopal whereas, many others boarded it from Ujjain, Indore, Dewas and various other cities.
Sources in Railways claim that train coaches from S-1 to S-4 were badly damaged while passengers seated in coaches from S-5 to S-12 and AC-I and AC-III were safe.
Meanwhile, several trains approaching Bhopal were altered due to the mishap however, a Railways spokesperson asserted that the rail route would be normalised within next one to two days.
