Delivering a Special Address at the Indo-US dialogue organized by the Network 18 & Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group said that world's oldest democracy America and the world's largest democracy India have a lot in common.

New Delhi: Delivering a Special Address at the Indo-US dialogue organized by the Network 18 & Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group said that world's oldest democracy America and the world's largest democracy India have a lot in common.

Emphasizing on the cherished values of freedom and individual liberty he said "both US and India believe that freedom and liberty of individuals needs to be the bedrock of any country.

Talking about what made US unpopular in other parts of the World, he said "USA's biggest misstep has been making private investment the fulcrum of its foreign policy".

He advised the US to treat India as an equal partner and not as somebody who can be of some use. He said "US needs to stop viewing India as an outsourcing whipping boy and see it as a source of great investment potential".

He advocated that India must graduate to the next level of growth. He said "time for India to move from outsourcing to right sourcing".

Prakash Javadekar

The Union Environment and Forest minister Prakash Javadekar who spoke earlier said that India's priorities for sustainable development: clean air, clean water and clean energy. He said "the Modi government is committed to passionate strong and transparent action on emission reduction & renewable energy. We'll walk our own path on Intended Nationally Determined Contributions but if technology free of IPRs is provided, we will walk the extra mile".

He added that if the developed world is ready to provide technology free of IPRs, it can be a win-win situation for all. He described the inclusive, national participation in a climate change plan as a 'PM-CM' game. He advocated a balanced approach between development & the environment is key while commenting on India's approach on climate change.

He said "Our efforts in Lima included dialogues with both the developed and the developing world".

Suresh Prabhu

The Union Railways minister Suresh Prabhu, who delivered the valedictory address "The Way Forward - The Next Steps" said "India and the US share many things, we have the same values. The US is world's largest economy; India could be 3rd largest economy soon".

Asking America to accept and realize India's true potential as an equal partner, Suresh Prabhu said "a growing economy like India can help the US to create new opportunities for its companies".

Talking about the nuke deal success, he said "possible nuclear deal success is only a starting point for India-US cooperation at Republic Day visit".
