London: Indian actor Kabir Bedi will receive the Life Time Achievement award from the Pegaso d'Oro (The Golden Pegasus Award), one of Italy's most esteemed awards, on Sunday. Bedi, who speaks fluent Italian, is a household name in Italy with a 'super-hero' status.

He recently acted in the prime-time, top-rated show Un medico In Famiglia in Italy and his comeback to Italian television has been a roaring success since his international role as 'Sandokan'. Kabir Bedi is deemed to be one of the most successful international actors from India.

The actor, whose career spans 30-years across three continents will be presented the award at a glittering ceremony in Pescara in Italy. Bedi has starred as the villain Govinda in the James Bond classic Octupussy alongside Roger Moore.

He also starred as Michael Caine's tribal companion in Ashanti and then crossed borders into Italy and starred as the title hero in a blockbuster Italian-German-French television series, Sandokan.

His role as a tough freedom fighting pirate during colonial times proved popular to mixed audiences and certainly determined his appeal across the world. To date, Bedi has an international cult following with a mass appeal in Europe due to the success of the 'Sandokan' show.

This year the winners of the Pegaso d'Oro 2007 will include Willem Dafoe, Dario Argento and Stefania Sandrelli. The award is presented by the Premio Internationale Flaiano, whose Jury for 2007 comprises leading Italian names like Giuliano Montaldo, Mario Monicelli, Suso Cecchi D'Amico, Mario Sesti, Deborah Young, Franco Mariotti, Laura Delli Colli and Mario Sesti.
