BANGALORE: “My experience in India has been one of the best I’ve had till now, my expectations from India were high. But India has taken it to another level. I am really happy. The audience in Bangalore was extremely enthusiastic and had so much energy. I enjoyed a lot while playing for them . The Indian audience is open to experimenting and Sunburn is one festival that is taking this initiative to take this music to the right audience. I am glad to be a part of this,” said DJ Avicii.Born as Tim Bergling and popularly known as Avicii, The Phoenix, Lois C and Tom Hangs, the artiste is on his first ever Indian tour. The 22-year-old Swedish artiste is currently number six in the world, and one of the hottest names in the electronic music space.Along with worldwide hit singles like Bromance, My Feelings for You, Levels, Street Dancer and many more, his collaboration with David Guetta called Sunshine has been nominated for the Grammy 2011 in the Best Dance Recording category. Avicii’s influences include Laidback Luke, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello, Axwell, Ian Carey, Eric Prydz, Ste Kirwan, and Daft Punk.“I’ve always been into music. I’ve also had loads of influences when it comes to my music taste. There several people who have influenced me but I think the biggest inspiration I’ve had aside from my manager has been the Swedish House Mafia guys and Eric Prydz, they were the ones who first got me into house,” said Avicii. The rate at which he is going, he can safely be termed as an unstoppable and dynamic force. Tearing up parties at the biggest and most prestigious super clubs across the globe, you’ll find him setting the festive sphere alight, headlining colossal events such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, Dance Valley, Street Parade and IDentity Festival; and infecting hundreds of thousands of EDM revelers with his uniquely captivating take on harmonious, pounding, stadium-driven sounds. On december 16, Avicii rocked the Bangalore crowd at E Zone Club. The revellers loved every bit of it and so did the Dj. Commencing his musical journey early, this self-taught artist has unquestionably amassed great success before turning 22 and we can expect a lot more to come. His word of advice for all the aspiring artists includes, “It is hard work and you really need to be determined to put in all those hours producing, getting to know people in the industry and sending around promos to djs etc. Another idea is to get in touch with big blogs and ask them to post your stuff. You obviously wouldn’t make any money off sales that way but who does nowadays anyway? The key is to be discovered just like it’s always been. So do all you can.”
