KOCHI: There are many people in villages who are struggling to earn their bread and butter. Attending to their needs should be given priority. Serving the poor is serving the God, Justice V R Krishna Iyer has said. He was inaugurating the 15th anniversary celebrations of Jan Kalyan Society in Kochi on Sunday. Jan Kalyan Society was formed in 1997 to serve society by extending educational and medical help. The Jan Kalyan Society has completed the constrution of a crematorium at Edappally, which has already been handed over to the public. One of the future projects envisaged by the society is to plant 25,000 saplings on the national highways. District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth attended the function.
